Engineering apprenticeships are probably the most widely recognised of all modern apprenticeships. Engineering covers a wide range of job roles and skills including machining or fitting, industrial electricians, welders, fabricators and maintenance staff.

There are 2 forms of apprenticeship available in engineering, each made up of a framework of qualifications (click each for more details):

• Engineering FMA 
• Engineering MA

The apprenticeship will be centred on an NVQ that will be matched to the job role and duties of the apprentice. The NVQs that are available through TSW are:

• Engineering Maintenance (includes Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Fluid Power, Services
• Mechanical manufacturing Engineering (includes Machining, CNC, Fitting and Assembly, Pipe Fitting, Machine Tool Setting and Composite Manufacture.
• Fabrication and Welding (includes Manual Welding, Welding Machine Setting/Operating, Sheet Metalworking, Plate-working, Structural
• Steelwork, Pipe and Tube Fabrication, Composite Fabrication and Rail Welding)
• Installation and Commissioning (includes mechanical, electrical/electronic, Fluid Power, Air con and Ventilation, Process Control, Fresh/waste/foul water distribution and Refrigeration equipment)
• Technical Services
• Engineering Management
