Duration: 3 Days

This course aims to give practicing or potential managers the foundation for their formal development in this role. This qualification will help participants to develop their management skills and assist them in gaining the knowledge and understanding required at this level.

The programme is designed to build leadership capability, improve the effectiveness and confidence of your managers, and support the development and performance of their teams.

What will the course cover?

Day One:

Leadership & Motivation

  • Understand the importance of the team having a common sense of purpose that supports the overall aims and objectives of the organisations
  • The effects of good and poor leadership in and organisation.
  • Understand leadership styles and assessing your own styles.
  • Understand the importance of developing and maintaining trust and respect at work.
  • Understand the main motivational factors and how they can apply in the workplace.
  • Understand the importance of a leader being able to motivate teams and individuals to gain commitment to objectives.

Day Two:

Developing and Maintaining an Effective Team

  • Understand the benefits of effective working relationships in developing and maintaining the team.
  • Understand the role that communication plays in leading, motivating and developing the team.
  • Understand the difference between groups and teams.
  • Understand the stages of team development and how to support the team through the process.
  • Understand the characteristics of individuals in the team and using it to support decision making.
  • Understand the Value of formal and informal performance management.
  • Understand the importance of, and how to set SMART objectives.
  • Understand the characteristics of individuals in the team and how it can support your decision making

Day Three:

Managing Conflict and Change

  • Identify the causes of conflict and the impact on teams and individuals in the workplace.
  • Understanding passive, submissive, aggressive and assertive behaviours.
  • Assessing your own behaviours and managing challenging behaviours.
  • Conflict handling models and styles.
  • The importance of feedback and timely intervention to prevent conflict
  • An overview of equality and diversity
  • Understand Change and why organisations need to change.
  • Identifying the barriers to change and the impact of change on people
  • How to support the team through the change process
  • An overview of change tools and techniques.
