Course Aims
The Award is a concise qualification involving around 30 hours of guided learning over a 3 month period. The mandatory unit, ‘Making Informed Decisions’ examines different decision making strategies and their uses – assessing relative strengths and weaknesses. ‘Leading Change in Organisations’ is the subject matter for the additional unit and is designed to give participants a better understanding of the dynamics of change management in organisations, enabling them to prepare, plan and lead change processes more effectively.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course participants will be able to:
- Evaluate the key drives of change in organisations and the products and services they supply
- Recognise and pursue the key components of organisational success
- Compare alternative models of change management and critically assess their suitability and effectiveness for bringing about desirable change
- Evaluate the effectiveness of alternative models of leadership in enabling change
- Appreciate the importance of stakeholder engagement and management
- Understand the impact of organisational culture on the change process
- Develop an appropriate leadership strategy that reflects the challenging economic environment as well as the needs and expectations of stakeholders
- Examine the fundamentals of organisational decision making
- Distinguish between optimising and non-optimising or satisfying approaches to decision making, and assess their relative strengths and weaknesses
- Evaluate the effectiveness of alternative decision making strategies in organisations
- Research and employ appropriate decision-making strategies in a given context
Course Assessment
- One Reflective Review and One Work based assignment

There are no formal entry requirements but participants will normally be practicing or aspiring senior managers with the opportunity to meet the assessment demands and a background that will enable the to benefit from the programme.
