TSW Training Corporate Health Standard

Corporate Health Standard

In May 2012 TSW Training started the process in working towards gaining the Corporate Health Standard. The Welsh Government initiative is aimed at employers to improve the health of the workforce and their organisation.

The standard is presented in bronze, silver, gold and platinum categories to public, private and third sector organisations implementing practices to promote the health and well-being of their employees.

To ensure this is monitored closely, a working group has been set up to ensure the standard is promoted and controlled within each part of the business. The working group is made up of:

  • Gary Wilmington – Health & Safety Manager
  • Karen Vagges – Team Leader on Childcare Team
  • John Moulton – Training Advisor
  • Matthew Channell – Commercial Manager
  • Sue Poole – Learner Experience Manager

Since the initiative began, the team has made great strides in educating and involving the staff on how to live a heathier lifestyle, both in and away from the working enviornment.

Get Walking Day

This event took place on the 26th May 2012 and encouraged staff from TSW to take part in a lunchtime walk from Fairwood House (TSW Training Head Office), through the cycling/walking trail towards Aberkenfig and back. This was very well attended and will be held as an annual event.

Monthly Newsletters

Each month the working group get together and send out a Health & Wellbeing newletter to all of the TSW staff. The newsletter covers various Health & Wellbeing topics, including links to national awareness days. Topics include:

  • Children's Health
  • Healthy Eating
  • Work Life Balance
  • Alcohol Awareness

Margam Park Charity Walk

During a working group meeting in August, it was decided that a weekend walk would  be arranged to encourage TSW's staff along with their families, children, grandchildren and pets to get together and promote the Healthy Living message. After recently choosing Gofal as the company's chosen charity, it was decided that instead of asking for sponsorship, all adults would pay an entry fee, will all proceeds going directly to Gofal.

The day was well attended with TSW providing water, fruit and mini biscuits for the attendees. A total of £95 was raised with everyone having a brilliant day.

Many more events are planned as we head into 2013. All of which will be outlined via the Latest News page of our website.
