The NEBOSH General Certificate course takes place over a 10-day period and requires a between 80-120 hours of study. This time is made up of taught time and self-study time.
Classroom and virtual courses take place over 10 days of taught time, typically between 9am and 5pm.
The standard course is delivered over 11 weeks. You'll have five learning days delivered over five consecutive weeks to cover NG1 content, followed by a week break, before diving into further five days on NG2 (the practical assessment) delivered over five weeks.
The NEBOSH General Certificate is well known for its demanding time commitment, but did you know you can condense the learning into just 5-6 weeks?
The Fast Track course content is just the same as the standard course, you just get the qualification done and dusted in less time.
The Fast Track course is delivered over six weeks. You'll have five consecutive learning days, a two-week break, then five more consecutive learning days, followed by the exam.
The fast track requires a high level of commitment, over a shorter period of time. It is right for you if you are able to commit to 10 days of training over a three week period and can fit in the self-study during that time.
Luke Pitt is a chartered health and safety practitioner and qualified teacher. He holds two fellowships with the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management and the Royal Society for Public Health. He has been a registered member of the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (created by the HSE) since its inception. Awarded the standard of Recognised Safety Practitioner by IIRSM, he spends spend a lot of time mentoring H&S practitioners in the industry for IOSH.

Our virtual courses offer a live, interactive digital experience. Hosted by our expert trainers using Microsoft Teams, you will join your fellow learners in a virtual classroom enabling you to carry out group work, discussions, and activities.
You will retain access for up to 3 months after completing the virtual classrooms, enabling you to receive support from your trainer when you take the learning back to the workplace.
It's a level 3 qualification, which is equivalent to an A Level, or Level 6 in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).
Your course materials and books are included in your course fees and we'll post them to you ahead of your start date. If you would like to do some wider reading, make sure it's relevant to the current syllabus - you can run books and materials past your trainer to check they're going to help your studies.
You'll complete the risk assessment alongside your studies in the final few weeks of the course. You're walked through examples in class and then apply what you've learnt in your workplace risk assessment.
Our open programme NEBOSH General Certificate course starts from £1,036+VAT. The cost of in-house courses, run exclusively for your organisation, vary based on numbers and specific requirements.
You take the NEBOSH exam using an internet-connected device, from a remote location of your choosing. You'll be given a unique login and password to access the NEBOSH exam platform, download the paper and submit your answers within 24-hours.
Some training centres will host in-person exams, but it's not likely to be until later this year, or even 2021. We are using the online system and will support you through the process.
