- An overview of working activities involving risk of injury from working at height and typical injuries
- Legal responsibilities including an overview of the Work at Height regulations
- Basic hazards and factors affecting risk
- Main precautions to prevent falls and falling materials
- Safe working practices for common forms of access equipment
- Safe use of ladders/step-ladders including pre-use checks, positioning and best practice
- Inspection requirements for scaffolds/working platforms
- Planning, organising and supervising Working at Height
- Pre-inspection procedure/check-list for work equipment
- Employer/employee responsibilities
- Question and answer session
This course is designed for individuals who organise, plan, supervise and carry out work at height including:
- Operatives
- Supervisors
- Managers
For the individuals:
- Able to properly inspect and maintain the equipment for working at height
- Ability to carry out risk assessments and select the appropriate work equipment
- Properly plan and organise the work at height
For the employer:
- Ensure those working at height are competent
- Apply working at height legislation, safety requirements and working methods
- Promote positive health and safety knowledge amongst employees
Pre-course preparation
No pre-course preparation is required for this course. Delegates are requested to complete a pre-course questionnaire that will be handed to the tutor before the first day of the course.
