Two fully funded avenues are available to businesses when looking for manufacturing apprenticeships. The two main options are shown below; you are able to choose either or both.

You can recruit a new manufacturing apprentice into your business. We can do this on your behalf, which is all part of the fully funded service.
Develop Existing Employees
Existing staff can access the manufacturing apprenticeship too (Subject to eligibility). It's a great way to reward and develop exisiting talent - all fully funded.

The level 2 Manufacturing Apprenticeships in Wales cater to individuals in roles related to manufacturing, packaging, and quality inspection of products.
All Welsh apprenticeships are planned around a framework of learning and accreditation. The manufacturing apprenticeship consists of four qualifications:
The Four Manufacturing Apprenticeship Qualifications
1) NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations
Apprentices complete the Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations qualification on the job, and in the workplace.
They gather evidence to illustrate competence in their day-to-day work, supported by an experienced TSW Assessor that guides them through every step.
The qualification consists of three mandatory units, which are:
Health and Safety
Promoting Effective Working Relationships
Contribute to Effective Team Working
Then, select four optional units from an extensive list to create a qualification that matches their role as closely as possible. Some examples of the units available are:
Transferring materials
Preparing for manufacturing operations
Concluding manufacturing operations
Ensuring effective handover of manufacturing operations
Receiving and checking incoming materials
Controlling manufacturing operations
Contributing to improving effectiveness in the workplace
Analysing the results of inspection and confirming quality of production
Recording and reporting inspection and test results
Producing shaped products
Producing products by assembly operations
Producing joined products
Producing products by processing
Producing formed products
Finishing products
Producing moulded products
Producing packaged products
Making products using computer-controlled equipment
Manufacturing products using combined manufacturing operations
Analysing the results of inspection and confirming quality of production
Carrying out inspection and testing activities
2) Level 2 Award in Industrial Environment Awareness
This qualification aims to provide health and safety-related knowledge for those working in an industrial environment.
Learners and employers can enjoy flexible delivery through a workbook that incorporates ‘knowledge checks’ throughout the learning outcome requirements. The TSW Assessor supports and reviews the process.
After completing the workbook and gaining confidence in the knowledge, learners take a short online examination of 20 multiple-choice questions based on the workbook’s content.
3) Essential Communication Skills at Level 1
Apprentices will be exempt from this qualification if they provide a GCSE certificate for English Language or Literature at grade G or above.
4) Essential Application of Number Skills at Level 1
Apprentices will be exempt from this qualification if they provide a GCSE certificate for Maths at grade G or above.
Eligibility Criteria
The Welsh Government provides a set of apprenticeship eligibility rules that determine whether an employee can access funding. These rules are subject to change, so please consult our Advisors for the most up-to-date advice.
Individuals must be employed in a suitable and relevant role to complete the manufacturing apprenticeship.
