All IOSH courses are assessed differently according to their level and content.
- Managing Safely: a closed-book MCQ (pass 36/60) plus a workplace risk assessment (pass 23/38).
- Working Safely: a short MCQ and a hazard-spotting exercise (pass 20/33 and 10/16).

Who should take an IOSH course?
We recommend that every business invest in IOSH health and safety training. Their range of courses provides employees at all levels with the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to comply with their legal responsibilities.
These programs are typically intended for employees and managers involved in health and safety, but without direct responsibility for it. They are also designed for individuals working in lower-risk settings or industries.
Are the IOSH courses internationally recognised?
Yes, IOSH qualifications are internationally recognised and respected. IOSH is a leading professional body for health and safety practitioners, and its courses are designed to meet high standards of competence and knowledge in occupational safety and health.
Why do an IOSH course?
Undertaking an IOSH course can provide you with the knowledge, skills, and qualifications needed to effectively manage occupational safety and health in the workplace.
It offers personal and professional benefits, contributes to legal compliance, and helps create a safer and more productive work environment for all.
Are there any prerequisites for IOSH courses?
Not for the IOSH Managing Safely or IOSH Working Safely – all ability levels are welcome.
Do you accept employer invoices or funding?
Yes, we can invoice employers.
ELCAS funding and other funding may also be available for eligible learners/businesses on select courses. Ask our team when you enquire.
What is IOSH?
IOSH is the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, the Chartered body for safety and health professionals. Its globally recognised courses help people work and manage safely.
If you’re mapping your route through IOSH membership, see our guide to grades, routes and fees.
IOSH vs NEBOSH – which is right for you?
Choosing between IOSH and NEBOSH comes down to your goal.
IOSH courses are short, practical programmes for managers and staff (1–3 days). NEBOSH qualifications are more in-depth and formal; better if you want a recognised credential for a health & safety career (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate).

Pullmaflex IOSH Courses Case Study – IOSH Managing Safely
Pullmaflex’s middle managers joined our IOSH Managing Safely course to address health and safety challenges in their roles and meet the business’s wider health and safety requirements.
“We have used TSW previously and found that both the service and knowledge of the consultant was excellent. Managers now have a better understanding of health and safety risks, responsibilities and the importance of ‘why’ so they can communicate to their direct reports. The training met our objectives. Using the same organisation for a variety of training helps the trainer relate to our business. Having the same training provider builds trust between our managers and the trainer. The trainer can provide business-related examples which the delegates can both buy into and understand.” – Pullmaflex
